AI Student Learning Checklist

Use This Checklist Before Studying With AI

AI can help students learn, but it works best when the goal is clear and the student stays active in the process. Use this checklist before relying on AI for school, studying, or skill-building.

The Checklist

  • Goal: What are you trying to learn or improve?
  • Task: Do you need an explanation, quiz, outline, feedback, summary, or practice session?
  • Rules: Does your class, teacher, school, or program allow this type of AI use?
  • Input: Are you sharing only safe and appropriate information?
  • Learning: Can you explain the answer in your own words?
  • Verification: Have you checked facts, citations, math, sources, and assignment requirements?
  • Ownership: Is the final work still your own thinking, effort, and voice?

The Rule

Use AI to understand, practice, organize, and improve. Do not use AI to hide that you skipped the learning.
